What stays on your Mac

Your library is a database on your own disk. A puzzle you keep local is never sent anywhere, and no account is needed to construct, fill or solve on your own machine. cw does not upload a library.

What cw.pub is given

When you make an account: the identifier Apple returns for you, the email address Apple passes on — which may be one of Apple's relay addresses rather than your own — the username you pick, and a display name if you set one.

Puzzles you publish, at the tier you publish them to, with their grids, clues and notes.

Who you follow, who follows you, and the accounts you have blocked.

Solve progress for a puzzle, when your device syncs it: the letters entered, where the cursor is, elapsed time, and whether check or reveal was used.

Comments and likes you leave.

What a constructor is shown

A constructor can be shown four aggregate numbers about a puzzle they published, and only when they have turned that on for their account. Nothing in them names a solver, and no solver's grid is ever shown to anybody else.

Who can see what you publish

Visibility has four tiers — local, shared, followers and public — and every one of them is enforced by authorization rather than by an unlisted address. Setting a puzzle back to local takes it off cw.pub; deleting it takes it off too. Your copy on your Mac is untouched either way.

Cookies

cw.pub sets a session cookie when you sign in, and sets nothing else. There is no advertising here, no third-party analytics, and no tracking of you across other sites.

Where it is kept

cw.pub is hosted on Vercel, and what is listed above is held in a hosted Postgres database. App downloads are served from separate storage that holds no account data.

Children

cw.pub is not meant for children under 13, and Spicerack Incorporated does not knowingly keep an account for one.
